I wanted to show off my first Japanese maple that I purchased. It is Acer japonicum Aconitifolium. It is also known as "The Dancing Peacock" Japanese Maple as well as Acer j. Maku jaku. It is one of the most heat hardy of the Japonicum Japanese Maples. Typical are it's large highly dissected leaves which come out in Spring in a very light green color as well as large flowers which are deep red. They mature in Summer to a strong green and as the weather turns colder their color will change to a multitude of colors. The tree likes to grow wide and can make it up to 8 feet in the landscape. It is a more open tree, acting like it is reaching out to touch someone. This is a must for your garden. Acer j. Aconitifolium, Spring Leaf Color^ Acer j. Aconitifolium, Summer Leaf Color^ Acer j. Hi there, Just wanted to show off one of our most heat hardy Japanese Maples. This magnificent Japanese Maple will reach at maturity 10 ft tall and about 8 feet wide. I have seen it reach up to 15 feet, but 10 ft is more its average. This is a Palmate leaf type tree with dark burgundy purple bark which is showy in the winter months. One of my favorites. Acer p.
